SITE:
This 17.5-acre parcel of land was once occupied by a high school. Adjacent uses include community center single family residences and a church.

PROGRAM:
Design a 140-unit congregate rental housing development for the elderly. Congregate services include dining and a wellness program.

SOLUTION:
Six connected two-story residential buildings and a community center form a campus centered around a large open courtyard. Each residential building has a large common living room and a porch facing the courtyard. The community center includes a commercial kitchen, diningroom, several lounges, a wellness room clinic and a small commissary and management offices. A second phase to be comprised of two assisted living residential buildings will complete a second large courtyard.
