SITE:
This challenging site is located off of Mark Shapiro Drive in Clinton, Maryland, adjacent to a high-rise elderly facility and townhouses.

PROGRAM:
Design a 111-unit seniors only apartment complex with multi-use rooms, gardens and related amenities.

SOLUTION:
The unique shape of the site created the opportunity to design a dynamic interior garden courtyard surrounded by apartments. The open corridor faces the courtyard gardens and allows each unit to receive light from both the exterior of the building as well as the interior. Rich cedar siding and the ever-changing gardens add to the warmth of the building’s varied spaces.
