SITE:
A sloping 4.8-acre site fronting on the Route One Commercial Corridor south of Alexandria.
PROGRAM:
Develop an office building for Fairfax County’s Human Services programs in the Route One area. The building is to act as a development magnet in an economically depressed but highly visible part of the county.
SOLUTION:
The first phase will consist of a six-story, 110,400 square foot office structure and a 322-car, three-level garage. The second phase will add a 4-story, 35,900 square-foot office structure and 216 parking spaces. The building has entrances at three levels: a DMV office at the lowest level, the main entrance at the second level and a Senior Center at the third level. The façade is broken into three sections in order to reduce its scale and to express a variety of uses in the building.
